此章，吉庆慢慢从学校的学生转变为家里的顶梁柱，不管是家里家外，床上床下。把巧姨.大脚这些个老娘们的关系理顺.摆平，就要从物产丰富的下运河，开始建立自己的事业，来承担两个家庭的重担，建立威信，到那时巧姨.大脚包括二巧和大巧的扎乱的关系都可以摆平。长贵发现巧姨和吉庆搞破鞋的事儿，排除道德感，奶大把一个父亲看到自己的儿子骑上自己惦记过的巧姨的心理写的入木三分，真实可信。紧跟着长贵又没有瞒过大脚，被大脚知道了巧姨“祸害了吉庆"的愤懑和女人天生的醋意，从尔把情节往前大大的推进。为后面的章节做了很好铺垫。
